PATH OF HEALTH


Path of Health program is designed for citizens of all ages and offers a wide range of events aimed at raising awareness of individual responsibility for our own health and the health of our families, as well as pointing out simple, widely available and cost-effective ways to preserve and/or improve our health. Our lectures, seminars and workshops on cooking, outings, DO IN training, meetings and round tables have become an integral part of lives of many inhabitants of Split who want to live better.

PROGRAM AND RESULTS

Path of Health program provides a wide range of events aimed at raising awareness of individual responsibility for our own health and the health of our families, as well as pointing out the simple, widely available and cost-effective ways to preserve and/or improve our health. Our lectures, seminars and workshops on cooking, outings, programs of physical exercise and recreation, meetings and round tables have become an integral part of lives of many inhabitants of Split who want to live better. More than 1000 participants take part in these activities every year. The program has been recognized internationally and our guests were many of the world leading experts in this field such as George Mateljan, Lino Stanchich, Zlatko Pejic, Jadranka Boban Pejic, Shizuko Yamamoto, Patrick McCarty, David and Cinthyam Briscoe, Jon Sandifer, Jeff Romanovski, Mingyong Wang, celebrity chef Aine McAteer and many others. In particular, we are very proud that the collaboration with prestigious George Mateljan Foundation for the World's Healthiest Foods, Seattle, Washington, USA resulted in establishment of the Centre of Excellence George Mateljan in 2007 in Split to explore the traditional Dalmatian (Mediterranean) diet. Aware of the fact that all the habits, including healthy ones that are acquired during childhood and adolescence, remain for life, we have focused one part of the program on children and youth.

In collaboration with the UNDP, we have developed projects for children of preschool age. We are particularly proud of the three-year project Path of Health – Healthies and Illies for pupils of second, third and fourth elementary school grades that has been continuously engaged in the elementary school Dobri since 2010. It is designed as a supplement to the regular school program and helps primary school teachers who want to sensitize children and their parents to an active personal role in the creation of their health.We hope that inclusion in the activities of our program will be a great help and encouragement for you to make it easier to navigate your journey to health through a wonderful game called life and that your everyday choices along this way will be a great contribution to your health, the health of your family, community and to all humanity.
Result

During the Path of Health program has been held more than 500 public lectures, seminars, workshops and trips and moreover a many conferences and appearances on a radio and television and in a press. More than 20, 000 users were trained through these activities.

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS ON COOKING

BASIC SEMINAR: MACROBIOTICS - WAY OF LIFE AND NUTRITION
This is our longest-running seminar that is organised from the beginning of 1992. Since than, hundreds of students from Split and Dalmatia have attended it. We are particularly proud of the fact that it has inspired many students and their families to live better and healthier.

At this two-day seminar, which includes practical and theoretical part, the introduction to the macrobiotic theory and practice is systematically elaborated. Theoretical part explains the basic principles of macrobiotics and tells why this way of living and eating helps with health problems. Furhermore, in the practical part, the emphasis is placed on cooking different kinds of food, talking about food selection criteria, methods of preparation and cooking and the manner of eating. At the end, the lunch is served for all participants.
Program leader: ®eljko Petrović is responsible for the Path of Health program in the Healthy City association. He has been practicing macrobiotic principles since 1990s when he had got seriously ill and found a way to return to health, happiness and satisfaction.

DO IN TRAINING

DO IN actually means the path to inner peace. The exercises have been created and practiced from the ancient times at the Far East when wise men of that time had systematized and recorded the intuitive movements that human being did to balance his condition. Practicing of DO IN develops a natural and healthy lifestyle. We strive to achieve health and happiness, as well as physical, emotional, mental and spiritual development.
This practice is very popular today both on East and West. There are morning, afternoon, evening, general and specific exercises. These are very simple and includes self-massage, breathing, meditation, stretching, etc. They can be practiced by anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, religion and other characteristics. They do not require any special preparations, personal equipment, partners or special techniques and can be practiced at all times and in any occasion. DO IN training is tried-and-proven therapeutic value that is completely safe without any side effects.
The benefits of DO IN training:

  • it is independent of time and space constraints and easy to perform without special equipment;
  • it is designed to preserve and accumulate energy and strengthens the internal organs and tissues;
  • it controls the volume and strength of the muscles and other tissues without stimulating the appetite;
  • it stimulates the circulatory system and slows the heart rate, thus extending the life expectancy;
  • it fully respects the laws of nature, not requiring an effort of will because it does not strive to achieve impossible, rather just possible;
  • it is developed by people of the ancient times so that anyone who performs it regularly can unify his body, mind and spirituality and realize the goal of his existence.
